Natural Polished Agate Slab

$60.00

This slice of an Agate nodule is from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. This agate displays its natural color, and has not been dyed or enhanced.

Agates are most commonly found as nodules within the cavities of volcanic rocks. These cavities are formed from the gases trapped within the liquid volcanic material forming vesicles. These cavities are then gradually filled in with silica-rich fluids leached from the volcanic material. Layers of agate are deposited on the walls of the cavity slowly working their way inwards. Nodules that do not become completely filled with agate or quartz are called geodes. The photos show the slab front-lit and back-lit.

NOTE: Items MASN1 and MASN2 are consecutive slices from the same Agate Nodule.

Size: 7.5” x 5” x 0.3”, Weight 0.5 lbs
