This unique Fulgurite specimen is a remnant of what sometimes happens when lightning strikes the ground and fuses the sand or soil into the shape of the lightning bolt. If the lightning bolt is hot enough, it can vaporize the center of the Fulgurite. The Fulgurite shown here is the rare example of a Hollow Fulgurite that was found near Tampa, Florida, USA.
