POSTCARD FROM MY FISH-DIGGING TRIP TO
WYOMING 2004
I got lucky the first day I was at the
quarry. No, I didn't find any rare fossils, but after a hard day of digging, I was invited to join the other
diggers for a great dinner of rabbit stew with all the fixin's, a good bottle of
red wine......

...and a great sunset to start a cool
evening.
Well, as luck would have it, we all
joined in to sample Jim & Linda's "Cream Can" where this milk can
is loaded with good things to eat. Contact me for details. Perhaps
you are picking up on this thread? While I love digging fossil fish, it's
the night life I love as well.
It's fun to watch fee-diggers at
the "tourist" end of the quarry. Glen is prying off some blocks
of stone for these tourists to split. They pay $75 for the day and usually
find more than that value in fish and have a wonderful experience doing it.

This has got to be a
first! Here was a nice family that flew in from Chicago to dig fish at the
tourist quarry for the day. When this 9 year old girl had found as many
fish that she wanted, she began serenading us with the violin. Good
acoustics.
Brief thunderstorms are common here.
Stormy weather can arrive suddenly with very strong winds and driving
rain. Often there is a beautiful rainbow to finish it off. (I don't
believe the large white spot in the photo is extraterrestrial.)
This is my pot of gold at the end of the
rainbow...a rare stingray with several little knightia fish around it. One
of the nicest rays found, this one might end up in the quarry owner's private
collection.

I just can't get enough of those
Wyoming Sunsets!!!!
